Rio Beach in Brazil

The biggest necessity in Rio beach is your sun glasses. Brazil beaches generally have white and Rio beach too.

At weekends and sunny days Rio beach is very crowded. If you want more silent place then this one you may go Rio beach of Barra de Tijuca. It is about 12 km far. This place is also a great surfing place. It is very easy to arrive there with buses or personal cars.

Some conscious Brazilian people go to Rio beach when the sun is not shining so much. They prefer morning sun or the sun afternoon. This is a useful advice for you if you think to move Rio.

Jericoacoara, Ceará Beach in Brazil

Ceara is place which is a little far from another settlement. For example it is four hours far from Fortaleza by car. But when you arrive there you will think that you are in a dream and you will not want to wake up.

The best place to stay in Ceara is bungalow houses. They are about 150 dollars for two people.

The best thing to eat in this place is pineapple and sandwich which is called pernil. But it is recommended to eat without pork.

You will have a great holiday in this beach city where you can enjoy yourself a lot.

Locate in the Porto Seguro District, and very near Arraial De Ajuda, Pitinga beach is for sure one of the most beautiful beaches in the state of Bahia, which means, one of the best beaches in Brazil. In front of the beach there is a big mountain, full of green vegetation, that gives you the idea, while you are swimming of being in a lost paradise. There are a lot of swimming pools in Pitinga Beach, and you can take a bath there while colorful fishes swim around you.

The beach has a very good infrastructure, because you can find almost whatever you want, but does not loose the sense of virginity.

WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO – HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
Is recommendable to book your accommodation before coming because you will not find good hotels in Pitinga Beach, although resorts and villas are excellent and put you more in contact with nature.

The best way to arrive to Pitinga Beach is to fly to the city of Porto Seguro, if you can find a direct flight from your home. If not you should fly to Sao Paulo, Recife or Rio de Janeiro and from there to Porto Seguro. You should check Varig Airlines, Gol Airlines and TAM airlines.

Praia do Rosa (Rose Beach) is a crescent shaped beach-bay surrounded by lagoons and hills covered with wild vegetation. It has 3 kms/1.8 miles of extension and initially this beach was discovered during the seventies by surfers, who enjoyed Praia do Rosa´s excellent waves.

Not only surfers could have fun in Praia do Rosa, but also you will find other activities like hiking/tramping, horseback riding and lagoon and waterfall baths. The beauty of this beach bay is recognized worldwide, being the only bay in Brazil to be part of the “Most Beautiful Bays of the World Club”, which comes with UNESCO´S official seal.

WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO – HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
The nearest airport is in Florianópolis, 90 Kms/56 miles from Praia Do Rosa. So you will have to pick up a flight from your country to Florianópolis International airport. There are a lot of companies traveling to this airport and you could find cheap airline tickets to Brazil in the net.

WHEN TO GO TO PRAIA DO ROSA
This beach has the particularity that between July and November, is visited by the Franca whales that chose the region to mate, give birth and nurse their offspring. Attracted by the warm waters of the beach, they became exquisite dancers – from July through November – giving the sea a sense of movement never seen before.

ACTIVITIES IN PRAIA DO ROSA
Rosa’s Beach, which is part of the Franca Whale Environmental Protection Area, has tours lasting 2 hours that allow tourists to watch the whales, but you can also observe this from some elevated hills, as the whales come within 25 meters of the seashore. This beach is also a place for everybody. All year round, couples, groups of friends, families with children and teenagers come to this beach that provides excellent options for lodging, gastronomy, and leisure activities.

OTHER BEACHES NEAR PRAIA DO ROSA
Although Praia Do Rosa is the most beautiful beach in the area, there are other beaches near Praia Do Rosa beach that can worth the detour. The main are:

Praia do Ferrugem (Ferrugem Beach), ideal for the people who loves some easy waves on the sea, and some dangerous movements at night, as in this amazing beach you can have a great beach but also a wild night with a lots of bars and discos.

Praia Vermelha (Red Beach), is a beach of crystalline water, with a bucolic air, maybe inspired by an almost permanently fog. This beach is so mysterious that it has been said that at night it transforms into an UFO airport.

Praia do Silveira (Silveira Beach), probably the best surf destination of the region, this beach has also the vegetation almost next to the ocean, creating a beautiful impression of an antique and unknown island.

Praia do Ouvidor (Listener Beach)

Morro de Sao Paulo (St. Paul’s Hill) is one of the most desired tropical destinations in the world, and ranks very high in the Top Brazil’s Beaches, because it still has clean sand, palm trees, crystal and warm water containing colorful fish living in deserted beaches.

Just for you to imagine, the Morro is a kind of volcano, with the beaches on the bottom, and the houses (or “pousadas”, as the local says) in the top. So you can live at the top of hill with a fantastic landscape, and go down just to go to the beach. To make things quieter, cars are prohibited in Morro do Sao Paulo. Only four wheel drives and tractors are used to access the more remote spots, and there are no streets, just alleys.

WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO – HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
The beach has a good infrastructure, and in recent years it has a big development, but it is still recommendable to book your accommodation before coming. You will not find good hotels in Morro do Sao Paulo, although resorts and villas are excellent and put you more in contact with nature.

The best way to arrive to Morro do Sao Paulo is to fly to the city of Salvador, if you can find a direct flight from your home. If not you should fly to Sao Paulo, Recife or Rio de Janeiro and from there to Salvador. You should check Varig Airlines, Gol Airlines and TAM airlines.

From Salvador you can catch a direct fly to Morro de Sao Paulo, and you will be there in only 20 minutes. Otherwise you can go by sea, bus or car and the travel is not difficult.

ACTIVITIES
But Morro de Sao Paulo is not only about peace and tranquility, as the village is an example of simplicity combined with all the attractions that you can imagine: restaurants and bars where you can always find “caipirinha” drinks with crazy Brazilian music, boutiques selling top brand products, “capoeira” dancers, and amazing dancing clubs on the beach with their exclusive beach parties.

MORE BEACHES IN MORRO
There are different beaches, most of them named by numbers, with their own particularities in Morro do Sao Paulo:

The First Beach is perfect for surfing: the best waves on the island that come with a swell that reaches its greatest height from the East, breaking from two to six feet over a coral reef.

The Second Beach is famous for its nightlife. Well known especially among young people, parties go on invariably until the sun rises. The staircase that leads to Second beach is amazing, you can see the vastness of blue waters that surround the island, and the sandy bottom during low tide.

The Third Beach is ideal for people who loves natural pools, and also is the best one for diving due to Caitá Island, formed by a large barrier of coral reefs, offering coral and fish of all colors and shapes, and also a great variety of equipment, from a mask and snorkel to a full set of diving equipment. If you want to make friends while diving, group boat trips can be arranged as well, but if you prefer being alone an interesting option is to paddle your way to the beach by kayak.

The Fourth Beach seems to have no end, having four kilometers of extension. It concentrates the largest hotels and resorts, and is definitely the beach where you will love to have your residence while in Morro, because is quiet but is also near to the other beaches.

The Enchantment Beach (Encanto Beach) is one of the most beautiful beaches in the Morro do Sao Paulo, as you have two kilometers of almost desert beach, creating the sensation that you are alone on a island. You can also take a nice baths in its deep ocean pools.

Garapua, is a beach isolated between mangroves, and you will only find a small fisherman’s village and some restaurants. The most exciting way to visit this beach is by hicking or renting a horse and taking an amazing trail through the forest.

Pratigi or Pontal Beach, is definitely the longest beach at Morro do Sao Paulo, with 10 kilometers, and also the most desertic. Is hard and complicated to access this beach, and you should take a three day expedition by trekking through danger hills, but you will definitely love the ride!

Gamboa, is a beach famous for its mud that it says to have skin treatment properties, and that the local says it improve your sexual capacity! You should take a day trip to know this beach, leaving from the village and if you are tired, returning by boat.

WHEN TO GO
The temperature is warm trough the whole year, with an average of 25.3°, but you should avoid the rainy season from May to July.

Canoa Quebrada is an old and small village installed on cliffs that was discovered and popularized by the hippies in the sixties. This beach has transparent water surrounded by enormous multicolored dunes. From the top of these dunes, you could see what the locals call “the magic sunset” or, at night of full moon, the sea becomes a silver mirror where you can see a dancing moon moving across the sea.

The nature of this beach is fragile, and for that reason a special attention must be given to the dunes and cliffs and any construction in the beach is allowed only after a detailed study and considering that destruction of the vegetation is prohibited. This beach is in a Protected Area that was created in 1998 to protect the area and keep untouched all natural attractions as well as local flora and fauna.

WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO – HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
The beach has a good infrastructure, and in recent years it has a big development, but it is still recommendable to book your accommodation before coming. As happens normally in this kind of beach you will not find big hotels like in other Brazil cities but excellent villas. The beach is located 164 Kms from Fortaleza. The nearest airport is Pinto Martins in Fortaleza, capital of Ceara State. To this airport there are local flights coming daily, mainly of the following airlines: Gol, Tam and Varig. If you are coming from Europe you can check Tap Air Portugal and if you are coming from United States or Canada, you should check United Airlines for flights to Rio de Janeiro and combinations. But the best thing to do is to check the web for cheap flights to Brazil.

Porto de Galinhas (Port of Chickens Beach) is in our selection the second best beach in Brazil. This spectacular beach changed from a fisherman village to a very popular destination for domestic travelers, that are hypnotized by its beauty and happy about the medium level of infrastructure that the beach has developed.

The history of the beach name is very interesting. In the 19th century, Brazilian government prohibited the slave commerce, which was very common in Recife until then. So, pirates had to create a solution to continue bringing slaves to Brazil avoiding the law, and then they started delivering slaves to other beaches more deserted, like for example Suape and Ipojuca. When the “black ships” (named that was given to the ships that commerce slaves) arrives to the port, to avoid suspicious the code message was “there are new chickens in the beach”, where chickens were obviously the slaves; hence, the beach get the name of Port of Chickens Beach.

WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO – HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
In Porto de Galinhas, there are not major hotel chains. The concept of big hotel is not adequate for this type of beach, so you will not find here the big hotels that are normally across Brazil. The interest thing about Porto de Galinha beach is that there are a lot of villages in the downtown, but you have to consider that in the nearby at night there are a lot of parties and bands playing in the streets. Those villages are cheap and if you want to be in the middle of the party that is a good option, but if you are looking for peace and tranquility, you should go to the villages far from downtown

Twenty years ago this beach was a simple fishing village with no electricity. Nowadays, the place has grown on infrastructure but keeps all the peace and tranquility that you will expect from a place like this. The main reason for this is that for accessing to this beach you will have to use a 4 wheel vehicle to pass dirty roads. And even once you arrive in Jericoacoara beach you will find that most of the streets in the village are covered by sand, so to move yourself in the beach you will have to walk or drive a buggy.

The meaning of the word Jericoacoara is Hole of Turtles, and came from the fact that lots of turtles comes to this beach to dig holes to lay their eggs. So you can expect to see a lot of turtles in Jericoacoara beach.

But what is really incredible about Jericocoara beach is the sunset. In fact, one of the most popular activities is to go to the Sunset Dune, in the west part of the beach, and watch the sun in confrontation with the dune. At night, is also impressive to watch the sky as it is one of the most astonishing view of a clean limpid sky you could ever had.

WHERE TO STAY AND HOW TO GO – HOTELS AND FLIGHTS
Lot of amazing and luxury villas can be found in Jericoacoara. Of course that you will not find big hotels, but you can trust that the villas are very comfortable and in touch with nature, and specially in Jericoacoara we think that is much better to forget about the comforts of the typical hotels, and stay in one of those “pousadas” in order to live the way brazilians do.

OTHER BEACHES NEAR JERICOACOARA
Mangue Seco: 5 kms from Jericoacoara, this small fishing village has a beautiful lake.

Guriu: Another small community of fishermen where you can make some rafting in the river.

Tatajuba: This is the place where you want to go if you love driving a buggy in the dunes and arriving to different lagoons.
